Gold
continues to be popular as people invest in the precious metal
due to the financial crisis gripping the world, an expert
has noted.
The Long Beach Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo explained
that the topic was a key one at its recent event in the US
state of California.
Scott Travers, former vice-president of the American Numismatic
Association, told Fox television that the economic climate
has prompted many people to consider the precious metal.
"Gold is the place to be. In this financial crisis we've
seen gold hold its own and perform incredibly well,"
he said.
David Hall, co-founder of the Professional Coin Grading Service,
added that those who invested in gold coins three years ago
have seen prices treble, while many are now turning to it
"because of the deterioration of the dollar".
