1788 New Jersey (1788 New Jersey Copper), Head Right, NGC VG10 BN. This uniformly chocolate brown 1788 New Jersey Copper has a strong reverse strike, which clearly shows the legend and details of the shield. The center of the obverse is strong with the date and legend partially visible. The head of the horse and the plow are clearly outlined and confirm the grade. The reverse could grade several points higher.
The coin shows a horse’s head facing right above a plough. The obverse inscription is NOVA CAESAREA or New Jersey with the date below. The reverse shows a Union shield above two crossed sprigs with the motto E PLUIRBUS UNUM separated by six-pointed stars. Dentils are around the peripheries of both sides.
In its population report, NGC shows 3 1788 New Jersey coppers, Head Right variety in VG with 10 better.
