1833 10C (1833 Bust Dime) Fine. This Capped Bust 1833 Dime has all the correct diagnostics for a Fine grade. There is a partial rim for both sides, a full LIBERTY on the headband, and the ear is plain. Although worn, the devices and the fields are clean showing the coin’s originality.
William Kneass followed Robert Scot as the Mint Engraver. His goal was to standardize the Mint’s output so any deviation would be rejected as counterfeit. One improvement that Kneass introduced was the close collar. John Reich’s designs continued but the new coins had beaded borders and uniform diameters.
