1862 G$1 Gold Dollar PCGS MS63. 1862 Gold $1 PCGS MS63. A popular Civil War date in all grades, this gold dollar would be a perfect representative in a Mint state type set. While generally considered to be a common grade, uncirculated coins in original quality have become increasingly hard to find.
With its unmolested surfaces and original color this piece no doubt has retained its original “skin” over the last 145+ years. A sharp strike and full luster further compliments this coin, which has no distracting marks on either side. As mentioned, the color is completely original, a light yellow toning to a somewhat darker color along the rim. A great coin and perhaps the start to a mint state type set of Civil War coinage.
