1937 Buffalo Nickel NGC MS65 CAC. This lovely nickel is has active cartwheel luster. It is satiny steel grey that is slightly darker at the edges. The coin is graded MS65 which is confirmed by CAC. One or two tiny marks keep it from a higher mint state grade. The coin is nicely struck with bold details at the bison’s head and shoulder.
Designed by James Earle Fraser, the coin is known as the Buffalo, Bison, or Indian Head nickel. Fraser used a realistic portrait of a Native American brave. He is seen facing left with LIBERTY above to the right and the date below on the shoulder. The reverse is a picture of “Black Diamond,” an animal in the Central Park Zoo of New York City. The required inscription and motto are above and the denomination FIVE CENTS is below.
