Collector Coin Sets: Most collectors begin collecting coins by trying to assemble coin sets. Many started with Lincoln cents as one of the coin sets. In fact most circulating coinage falls into this category. Recently many have gotten started in numismatics with the State Quarter coin sets that were issued from 1999 to 2008. Some like to purchase coin sets because they don’t have the time to obtain coins individually. Others acquire coin sets because the sets contain a single coin that might be needed to complete a collection. A popular and obtainable coin set is the Walking Liberty half collar collection, which was issued from 1916 to 1947. Another is the Franklin half dollar collection that began in 1948 and ended in 1963 when it was replaced by the Kennedy half dollar.
