Of the total mintage, only 80 to 90 pieces are known in all grades, with just a few of these remaining in any uncirculated condition. Even AU pieces are scarce, although they are found with some regularity. This can absolutely not be said of pieces which have been graded Mint State by any of the major grading companies. AU and Mint State survivors were not even mentioned in his Encyclopedia, published in 1988.

With light yellow color, this piece is near the top of the condition census for this issue. The strike is better than usually seen, with the stars showing near full peripheral lines. Further to that, the fields are not as abraded as would be expected for the grade. Full, satiny luster, typical for the issue is seen on both sides, and is quite a pleasure to look at.
