1856 Quarter Dollar (1856 25C) PCGS PF63 CAC. This Arrows Omitted proof Liberty Seated 1856 Quarter shows devices outlined in bright mint luster and contrasting with mostly light tan and grey fields. Other colors found in the fields are traces of orange, blue, green, and violet.

The coin is graded Proof 63 and confirmed by CAC. The horizontal marks on the obverse are on the holder not the coin. As expected for a proof coin, the strike is full and sharp on both sides. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the obverse shows the seated figure of Liberty with her head turned to the left. She holds a Union shield in her left hand and a Phrygian cap on a pole in her right. The reverse shows the heraldic eagle with required inscriptions. The date is written as QUAR. DOL.

The arrows found on both sides of the date of the 1854-1855 quarters were removed in 1856, thus resuming the Variety 1 design but with the weight standard of 1853 still in effect.

In its population report PCGS estimates that 20 to 30 proofs of this date exist. In PF63 there are 10 with 10 better. CAC shows 2 in PF63 with 4 better.
