1862 Gold Dollar (1862 G$1) ANACS AU50 Details. Civil War 1862 One Dollar Gold. The ANACS gave this coin a details grade because it had mounts removed, and the coin was bent. Traces of solder are seen on the reverse. While retaining some mint luster, the coin shows small scratches and surface abrasion which is consistent with the grade.

Gold dollars of 1862 were minted at Philadelphia for use in commerce under Union authority during the Civil War. Because of their small size, gold dollars were frequently made into jewelry. This coin probably had a pin soldered to its reverse so it could be worn as an ornament.
