1875-CC Eagle (1875-CC $10) PCGS XF45. The featured coin is an 1875-CC $10 gold eagle graded XF-45 by PCGS. This coin exhibits some minor contact marks that do not deduct from this coins beauty. Its deep gold surfaces nicely contrast its frosty devices.

The 1875-CC $10 eagle is one of the keys of the series in any and all grades due to the fact that depositors of gold at the time requested Double Eagles. Because of this, the $10 Eagle was produced in much lower quantities. With only 7,715 examples of the 1875-CC minted, these coins were not highly collected at the time because of the odd denomination. Not even the Mint Cabinet desired branch issues to be struck. These coins remained scarcely collected until Executive Order 6102 was signed on April 5, 1933 by President Roosevelt "forbidding the Hoarding of Gold Coin, Gold Bullion, and Gold Certificates" by U.S. citizens. Collectors from all over rushed to put together sets of the coin, but by this time, most early dated Carson City examples were well worn.

The eagle became the base unit of denomination for all gold coins issued by the United States Mint and has been obsolete as a circulating denomination since 1933.

Designed by Mint Engraver Christian Gobrecht, the 1875-CC eagle is commonly referred to as the with motto version because IN GOD WE TRUST was added to the coin in 1866. The obverse features a neoclassic head of Liberty adorned with a coronet inscribed LIBERTY. Thirteen stars surround the bust, with the date below. The reverse depicts an eagle holding arrows and an olive branch, encircled by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and TEN D. Chief Engraver James Barton Longacre placed the new motto on a scroll over the eagle's head.

In its population report, PCGS shows 14 certified 1875-CC eagles at XF45 with 19 better.
