1879 Trade $1 (1879 Trade Dollar) PCGS PF64 CAC. William Barbers Trade Dollar was struck for circulation in Asia to compete with equally sized silver coins from other nations. They were struck at Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Carson City from 1873-1885. A limited number of proof examples were struck for collectors each year as well in Philadelphia. This is a fascinating and attractive dollar type that continues to appeal to collectors/investors and has proved to be a lucrative endeavor for specialists.

The example offered is extremely well struck and ever so close to full gem mint state. Though not designated as cameo by PCGS, the frosty devices are beautifully contrasted with the mirrored fields.
