2008 Gold Buffalo (2008 G$50 Buffalo) ANACS MS70. As expected for an MS70 coin, this bullion 2008 Gold Buffalo shows vibrant mint luster and no negative marks, nicks, or scratches. The strike is full and sharp on both sides with all of the details clearly visible. The American Buffalo series began in 2006.
The coins are the first .9999 fine (24-karat) gold coins struck by the United States Mint. They were struck at West Point and distributed through a selected dealer network that made them available on the secondary market. The fifty dollar gold piece contains one ounce of pure gold.
The design is a modification of James Earle Frasers Indian Head Buffalo Nickel. Also known as the Bison Head Nickels, they were struck from 1913 to 1938.
Because the Buffalo gold piece is a bullion coin, its value is determined by the spot price of gold.
