Peru: 1965 100S, KM#243, 100 Soles, 46.8071g, .900 fine gold, 1.3544 Oz. POP 8 in MS66 / 5 better. This giant (nearly an ounce and a half) Peruvian gold coin was struck to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of the Lima Mint. Absolutely spectacular gold coin and in our opinion much nicer than MS-66.

1965 Peru G100S Lima Mint Anniversary (KM243). Offered here is an example of the largest denomination in a series of gold coins to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the Lima Mint in Peru. Extremely large, this gold coin contains nearly 1 ounce of gold (1.3544 Oz to be exact).

Scarce and increasingly popular, the obverse features a reproduction of the popular Doubloon minted for centuries in Peru and other countries in South-America for several decades. The date is listed as 1565-1965, and this coin on coin design is a popular topic in specialized collections. Collecting by design features is extremely popular in the stamp collecting world, but has become increasingly popular with coin collectors all over the world as well.

Prices for premium and scarce pieces, such as the present piece, are still relatively low, and it appears that this is a perfect time to secure the scarce pieces. Certified by NGC, this coin appears to be grossly undergraded to us, especially for a large and heavy coin in the relatively soft gold metal. Virtually untoned on the obverse, the reverse is a bit more green-gold and is very appealing.
