March 21st, 2024 - New Orleans-The Big Easy - Mint Rarities and More

I hope all is well. This week we travel Way Down South to New Orleans a.k.a The Big Easy. Of all the United States Mints, perhaps New Orleans comes to mine when thinking of some of the rarest gold coins that the United States minted anywhere! Anyone who has spent time in The Big Easy knows about the unbelievable food, jazz, quaint shops. New Orleans, great people of Louisiana and in New Orleans pronounced "New Or-Lee_Ans" and not |New Orleeens" as so many mispronounce it. A terrific place for collectors too with some of the neatest antique shops and a great coin (and guns!) shop, Cohen and Sons since 1898! Pure history.
New Orleans was also the place where numerous Confederate Currency rarities have been created which you can read about here by author Professor Jules d"Hemecourt formerly of Louisiana State University (LSU), and you can read about the currency collection here.
While we dabble a bit in currency here at US Rare Coin Investments, what really floats our boat are top quality specimens, examples of the minters art that were created by the mint, some of them I'll mention here: A gorgeous 1889-O Silver Dollar approved by CAC in choice uncirculated condition, an intense 1893-O Half Eagle in PCGS MS-63, early 1847-O Eagle with a CAC sticker, a scarce and lovely 1853-O Eagle in very choice about uncirculated, beautiful 1895-O in very choice uncirculated MS-63 with only 4 coins numerically higher, Scarce in unc 1852-O $20 in choice uncirculated condition among others as well as a Gettysburg Commem and a few World and Ancient coins to titilate your collectors and investors spirits. And these are being offered to you Pre-Baltimore show!
