November 19th, 2025 - GOLD COINS FROM NEW ORLEANS TO SWEDEN

Hello All,

I hope all is well. Baltimore was quite active from both a buying and selling standpoint. There is no doubt the collector has a large appetite for those difficult to locate rarities but we are also seeing an ever growing demand coming from the investor sector. An additional growing demand especially from some dealers who are buying ever so slightly better double eagles for such small premiums over spot, the thought is these prices will not stay this way for long. This trend will also put pressure on better date gold in general. So much activity that I find myself working 6-7 days a week just like I did almost 50 years ago when I started in the business professionally. Back then it was non-stop go-go-go and there's quite a bit of that type of frenetic activity going on right now in 2025. One of the big differences however is now the grading is guaranteed which it sure was not that way so many years ago and the fact that there are so many buyers nowadays who have a plan whether it's financial or numismatic or both, many collectors as well as investors have a good idea of what they want from rare coins, it's a matter of putting that plan to action which many are doing as well.

This weeks very special picks start with an early Coronet quarter eagle from 1843 New Orleans that is quite an eye opener in MS-62 followed by a lower mintage and rare Proof 1906 $5 Half Eagle in Proof 64 Cameo, next up have your sunglasses on to view this incredible 1911 Indian Eagle $10 in blazing MS-65, to a really attractive 1852-O Double eagle in about uncirculated followed by a tougher Civil War date 1864 Double Eagle in choice about uncirculated condition and well priced. Next up a way above average 1884-CC double eagle in choice uncirculated MS-62 + with + being on the holder as the graders felt that way too, followed by an amazing 1915-S Saint Gaudens in NGC MS-66 ( ! ) at an unbelievable less than 10k followed by an uber rare and neat early Swedish Gold Ducat of 1808 in MS-62 ( consider an 1808 USA half eagle in this grade with this eye appeal would set you back 3 times this price and is not as rare ) Imagine a box of twenty hand picked rarities like this to set aside for the future or for a child's financial kick start in life one day. What a kick start that would be.
