There was a lot going on in the United States and around the globe in 1875 from the activities of the James Gang to a confrontation between prospectors and Sioux Indians over there prospecting for gold on Indian lands. Swift & Co opened a giant plant in Chicago which would serve most of the USA with fresh meats, and actual sounds being sent over wires, to be called telephone wires and many other important historical actions too many to list here. 1875 was an important year in American history.
