1861-O $20 XF45-CAC PCGS. With links to the Southern Confederacy, the 1861-O is an immensely popular Liberty Double Eagle. The original mintage for this date is 17,741 pieces, a total that can be subdivided as follows: 5,000 coins delivered by the United States in January 1861; 9,750 pieces delivered by the state of Louisiana from late January through May 1861; and 2,991 coins struck under authority of the Confederate States sometime on or after June 1, 1861.
