1862 Gold Dollar NGC AU55 CAC. A
popular civil war date of the smallest gold denomination.
1,361,355 pieces were struck, making this the last large
mintage before coinage decreased following the civil
war.
The present piece is a slightly circulated coin.
Somewhat weakly struck on the reverse, a common characteristic
of these small coins, considerable luster shows on
both sides. Obvious handling signs show, although
not much distracting, this coin is well worth the
sticker CAC awarded to it.
