KM-Y344
Birds over Junk, a choice original coin with superior
booming luster. Slight scruffiness on cheek, a characteristic
of this date/variety which keeps it from grading MS-65
or higher. The rare bird over junk type was only minted
in one year in 1932. In 1933 the reverse was altered
to omit the rising sun and three birds because the onset
of China's war with Japan- as the rising sun is Japan's
national symbol and the birds resembled low flying Japanese
bombers. Original problem free coin with extremely light
toning over booming lustrous surfaces. Very rare this
nice and a premium specimen and much nicer than most
seen in recent years at auction. |
