1893
Quarter Eagle NGC PR63 UCAM. A gorgeous example of this
low mintage proof gold coin. Only 106 proofs of the smallest
gold denomination were struck in this year. Of this miniscule
mintage, an approximate number of 60 to 70 still remain
in all grades.
The specimen before you is a wonderful ultra cameo contrasted
proof gold coin. Strongly struck, the fields well deserve
the designation NGC gave it. Mirror like surfaces show
a beautiful black/yellow contrast seldom seen on any coin.
A few minor hairlines keep it from a higher grade although
this of course is subjective. The obverse is near gem
quality, which would make this coin a much, much higher
value. The present coin represents a wonderful and seldom
offered opportunity to acquire a coin from one of the
prime areas of American coinage at a very attractive price.
