1813 Half Eagle (BD-1, R-2) PCGS
MS62. The perfect type coin for this very scarce type,
struck from this year to 1829. The only readily available
issue of this type, high quality pieces such as the
present coin tend to move very fast in the current market.
The only use of this reverse die, the variety is
easily identified by the position of the first S in
STATES. On the present variety, which is the more
common of the two known for this date, the S is to
the right of the E in E PLURIBUS UNUM. On the other
known variety, BD-2, the S is centered at this position.
High quality gold coins in uncirculated condition,
such as this piece attract a vast and broad assortment
of interested buyers. As the most common issue, this
is the coin that is most likely to be the representative
for the type in a high quality US type set. For investment
