1837 Half Eagle NGC AU55. A lovely about uncirculated
example of this popular gold coin. 207,121 pieces
were produced at the Philadelphia Mint this year,
which is the lowest mintage of this particular type
at the so-called mother Mint. Last struck in 1838,
this type, the classic head design, was later replaced
with the Liberty Head design, in use until 1907.
Strongly struck, this piece only spent a short time
in circulation. Lots of luster remains on both sides,
which are toned to a pretty green-gold color. A very
nice, high grade circulated example of this popular
type coin.
