The 1894-O $5 Liberty is a popular issue amongst numismatists
as it was the final year a Half Eagle was struck at
the New Orleans Mint. It carries with it a very low
original mintage of just 16,600 coins. Almost all
of them saw heavy circulation and are most often found
in Extremely Fine or About Uncirculated condition.
In Mint State this coin is very scarce, and could
certainly be described as a sleeper by
anyone who really understands how rare the piece is
as a Condition Census issue. In Mint State 63 the
coin is very rare and is Tied for Finest Known.
Only 4 have achieved this level of preservation by
both PCGS and NGC combined, and none have ever been
graded finer.
This is a special opportunity to acquire what we view
to be a true Condition Census rarity at a fraction
of the price that similar issues would cost.
