For your consideration is a 1790's Middlesex Spence's
"End Of Pain" Halfpenny Conder Token, DH
# 831A. The reference to pain is in regard to Thomas
Paine, who greatly influenced English radicals and
was forced to flee to France to avoid conviction in
England. (1792) prior to this, while in America, he
wrote "common sense" (Jan. 1776), involving
himself in the clash between England and the American
colonies (Thomas Paine is also known as the godfather
of the American Revolution.) Much more great history
& events about Paine exist on the internet and
in reference works. Details are clear with much nicer
than average surfaces AND color is a nice deep brown.
A difficult to locate conder token! (Diameter: 30
mm edge: plain (not in collar) composition: copper)
Graded AU-55 by NGC and is truly choice about uncirculated.
Try and find another this nice!
