1924 Saint Gaudens $20 Error NGC MS63 CAC. Here is a really neat "Saint Gaudens Error", accompanied a CAC approved sticker. The strikethrough has created a shallow, rough depression at the left-obverse border. Otherwise expertly produced, both sides are sharply struck and possessed of full, softly frosted luster. Pretty orange-gold color, to boot, and important as an example of a significant Mint error on a large-size U.S. gold coin.
1924 $20 Obverse Struck Thru NGC MS-63 CAC – A common date that is easily found in all grades, this particular coin stands out by having a small strike thru in the left obverse field. Gold coins with errors are rare, as quality control was strict for these “faces of the United States”. Sharply struck with full luster visible on both sides of the coin. As the largest denominations gold coins were and are considered to be the grandest of all coinage, and the Mint personnel wanted to make sure their quality standards were high. |
